Message: I put a 5.6" flip down TV in my 2001 Quad Cab. I mounted in the overhead console where the "clip" or "trip computer" is located. It flips up nicely when not in use and when down, swivels 90 degrees left and right so everyone can see it. It's hardwired from under the steering column and had a relay shut off so I don't drain the battery (same thing on the DVD/MP2 player). I mounted the DVD/MP3 player under the driver's seat (facing out the back). I'll post pics within the week at my website (www.geocities.com/quad2nv).

Message: I have a 9" AC/DC TV/VCR Combo and it works good plugged into the 12 V Acc. plug. I had a problem with it once and since it was AC/DC and a combo it was very expensive to fix. 13" is getting a little big for a vehicle? I think you have the right idea going with a converter. Then when you go camping you have a place to plug in the blender for marquitas.

Message:
If you get a powerful enough inverter you could have a tv, DVD and surround sound ;-)
Even with the inverter you'll want an optima yellow top battery to hook the inverter to. Either that or leave your D running to keep the existing battery charged.
Sound Domain sells inverters and the direct link is inverters
This is an idea that I've been toying around with for a while, but I haven't done too much research on it. I don't know if I'm ready to lose about 18" of my bed quite yet.

Message: Why not get the setup with the screens that mount on the back of your headrests. That way you can have 2 small screens instead of just one big one. Mount your vcr/playstation under a seat. Also a set of earphones for each side. Audiovox is only one of the companies that offer this type of setup.

Message: If you can amuse and entertain your children with a TV the size of a watch, why not. Pick a size that will fit in your budget and your truk comfortably. I have went many mile with a 9". When the kids can watch a movie going down the road, they will feel special, IMO. (I almost thinks as much fun as the 5" TV in the console). The kids have to adjust and make things just right for themselves and it gives them a sense of satisfaction to set up an entertainment center in the truck.
