Subject: Ram or Dakota?

Message:
By summer 2002, I want to sale my truck, and get new one. I want to start deciding, Ram 1500-2500 (inline 6 cummins diesel) or Dakota. I want 4x4 and POWER!!. All at a very resonable price. I want room, Im a big guy. I really like both trucks a lot, but I have an 87 Dak, and I want to upgrade. Can I get some help?

Depends if cash is an issue with you. If you want raw power, then go for a Cummins diesel with dual back wheels and a short box. If you are a little strapped for cash then I suggest the Dakota with the new gen 4.7. Problem is this year the new Ram is coming out, and I learned my lesson with my Dak. The lesson is, NEVER EVER buy a new redesigned Car/Truck the first year it comes out. The year after they released the new 97 Daks, the redesigned it again because of several flaws and problems, now im stuck with a Bastard year, and plenty of probs. 4600 Dollars worth of repairs and Recall notices later, im still driving it and cursing it. Wait a while if you can before buying a new Ram, or simply buy a Dak.

I see where your coming from I just ordered a 2002 CC 4x4 w/4.7 and all the goodies, and I'll be turning my s10 (lease) in Monday it was a reg cab very small 4cyl xtreme, no room no power it had to go I didn't have $30,000+ to spend on a truck so I got a nicely decked out Dakota, I was never into Diesels but that ram with the 5.9L Cummins will cost a pretty penny, not to mention you can only get it in a 2500 or bigger and I think that they are the same as the older style only the 1500's changed (I think)
