Subject: Replacing Brakes, Rotors and Drums. IP: Logged
Message: It's obvious that the best aftermarket rotors are Powerslot. Most dakota owners tend to go with the Ray Bestos, Hawks, pads. However, I have yet to read any information on what brand of rear drums anyone has gone with. Once I find out what rear drums work I am going to do a brake overhaul due to the fact that DC doesn't know how to stand behind their product. My rotors and drums were toast at 13,000 miles. How convienent. Anyone with any information please post it. Thanks! Also, if anyone has success stories of aftermarket brake products please post it so all of us with BRAKE problems can know what products to buy to replace the crappy brakes that Dodge issues! Message: My opening message refers to any Dodge Dakota 99 or newer that is having brake problems. I have a Y2k Black Dakota 4X4 V-8 4.7ltr CC.

Message: No success stories here even after switching to Powerslot rotors. If you call 60K miles on my stock rotors without them warping success then I have succes. I have my stock rotors back on now, and they are starting to warp(I have 82K on odo now). I had Powerslot rotors for about 20K miles and then both the rotors cracked bad!! They are ususable. Cracked on both sides of the rotors both drivers and passenger side in two seperate places. PowerSlot won't replace them either. Said I didn't use the right pads(had Reybestos QS Ceramic pads) and the pads overheated the rotors so they cracked. If I woudl hve used the pads they recomended I woudl have been fine. ONly problem with that is I had two sets of the pads they recomended. The first set didn't fit my truck, and the second set broke during install. Gave up, drove the 10 miles to local PepBoys, and bought the Reybestos pads. I have heard good thing about the Autospecialties cross drilled rotors though.

Message: Well my rotors finally warped so much I couldnt turn them again. I originally had 38 000 miles before they were slightly warped. the stock pads lasted that long also but they were toast.
I replaced the pads with Raybestos super quiet pads. worked good but didnt last worth a crap. I got 1 1/2 years of time out of them but only about 10 000 miles ( I dotn drive the truck a lot)
I jsut recently replaced the rotors and pads with Raybestos rotors and heavy duty brake pads.
So far they seem to work great.

Message: This rotor warping crap is driving me nuts. Warped first with less than 10k on my 01 club cab 4.7 4wd. Dealer turned them at 15k even though not under warranty till I made a stink. Lastly again less than 10k. Finally installed Raybestos: cost about $160 and NAPA ceramic pads (less dust everyone said) Lasted--now get this--less than 5k and I'm beginning to feel the same pulse and shimmy when braking. Now what? I've seen all sorts of posts on this board on this topic and hate to keep beating the dead horse, but damn I'm tired of an otherwise great truck making me feel like I'm driving something cheap and poorly engineered. I have less than 1500 miles left on the warranty and am holding my breath for ball joint problems to surface after the next oil change. Warning: This message will self destruct in 15 seconds or 36k miles, whichever comes first.

Message: Warranty on brakes(rotors) ,12,000 miles (20,000km).I don't think pads are covered .

Message: i want to change the front pads on my 2000 toyota camry and i need to know about the abs system . do i disconect a fuse to release the presure, so when i expand the calipers i wont brake anything?????
