Message: What is the best way to clean a TB without screwing up any sensors and without removing it entirely? Is there a decent cleaner available? Either tonight or tomorrow I'm going to pull my air hat off to see if there's any gunk on the throttle plate. My truck runs fine, but if there is gunk on the TB, I'm sure I will want to clean it off...I'm anal about cleanliness on my truck. Last time I did this was with a toyota that had a carburetor and I just sprayed some carb cleaner down the throat while it was running.
Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!

Message: I just use the TB cleaner by MotoMaster. I think it's mainly tolulene. I spray it down the bores and use lens cleaning cloth (I work in graphics so we have lots of it) which doesn't leave lint to wipe out the bores. I know several people who disconnect theirs to clean it thoroughly but I'm afraid in case I frig up the sensors. I have a slightly used V8 TB off an R/T sitting on my kitchen table right now (uh, yeah, I'm single) that I have thoroughly cleaned and the tolulene does a great job of getting all the gunk off. I

Message: go to www.speedtweaks.net, there is a section on how to clean your TB. It is very easy to do on the 4.7.

Message: If you take it off to clean it, use mild soap and water. Trust me on this. Carb cleaners will ruin the idle control selenoid switch. Found out the hard and expensive way. On the truck ,any are fine. Also, if you live near a Motor Products store, they carry a product called sea foam. It is superb for any combustion engines and a good fuel stabilizer. (used in my truck, motorcycle, and lawn mower. Got 1\4 acre times of 9.8 @148mph lol.)
