Message: Does anyone do the scheduled maint. from the log that the dealer gives out, some of the things look strange,ei. change tranny fluid 12,000...that sounds premature to me? What things are really needed and when?

Message: I've never gotten one of those from the dealer, just seen the schedules in the back of the owners manual. speakin personally, i'm running at over 31k on my original tranny and rear end fluid, nothing acting up yet, and i've had some pretty heavy duty use, trailer towing, etc. I do plan on getting these fluids changed ASAP, probably when i'm home from school this winter.
Sorry to ramble, HTH

Message: Follow the owners manual; ignore what the dealer says.
Somewhere around 25,000 miles I took my truck to the local dealer and asked for whatever service Dodge recommended. The bill would have been over $300 and the list of stuff included lots of things the owners manual specifically says not to do - like put additives in the oil. It was all high-profit stuff sold at a premium. I haven't been back to any Dodge dealer since then.

Message: I go by my own schedule. I get my transmission done at every 12000-15000 because of stop and go traffic. My oil every 3000-5000. Keep on top of the fluids, dont let them go till you think there is a problem. If you keep all the fluids fresh the car should run great forever. Or till you get rid of it.

Message: i myself was wondering about the tranny oil.since the log book says 12 to 15 thousand so i asked a good friend of mine that has a station and he looked it up on snap ons cd rom maintance and it says for rough service 12 to 15 other is 30 thousand.since the valve body in my truck went bad at 55,000 miles (thank god i bought the extended warranty)its a good idea to change it at 30,000.just my thought

Message: I follow the log up to a point: i.e. I got the 80,000 km checkup done today with fall coolant, but not the air filter (I have an intake) & I get the oil & oil filters done regularly at a minit-lube. Also, I tell them not to bother with the throttle body wash as I do that myself and save the $60. The schedule also recommended wire & spark plug change at this point, but I just recently did them.
