Subject: Battery terminal corrosion IP: Logged
Message: I am about to buy my third battery due to the positive terminal corroding until it no longer exists. It is not a buildup of battery acid, it is like black film that covers both the positive battery terminal and the clamp on the end of the positive line. Any ideas as to why this is happening would be appreciated. '92 dakota 5.2L

Message: Weird, I usually use washers and this purple anti corrosion stuff that I spray on the terminals and clamps and have never had a problem on any vehicle or a friends vehicle. The washers are like 99 cents and the spray isn't much either for the protection you're getting.
