Subject: front and rear differential fluid change IP: Logged
Message: Good day all,
I have a 2000 Dakota 4x4 with 79K miles on it. I changed the front and rear differential fluids 30K miles ago with mobil 1 full synthetic (75-90 and 75-140)
Was wondering what interval other Dakota owners are changing their diff fluids, as the maintenance manual recommends 36K, but thinking that could be extended due to synthetic oil addition the last time.
Thanks for any input!

Message: 36K, synthetic or not - at least in the rear IF you
have LSD.
The clutch plates wear. I don't want that stuff in
my gear oil any longer than necessary.

Message: Thanks for the input. I was thinking about changing the rear fluid, as the front only get's use when in 4x4 mode. At 30K I agree, it's probably time for the fluid change out.
