I have a 93 Dakota with the 5.2, 4x4, and auto. My water pump just died. I had to replace the original at 106,000 miles. The one I put on was a GMB unit I got from Autozone in the middle of the night almost. I am desperate here so I am BEGGING someone to recomend a QUALITY waterpump for under $80 for my truck and I would go to the Dodge dealer but I dont have that kind of cash since they charge alot for their stuff. Pleae, I need some help here. Thank you.

If the pump has a lifetime warranty do not sweat it! Quality is subjective. If you have gone through two water pumps you might have problems with contaimanents in your system. You might want to flush your system and then try useing a sillicate free coolant.

I had the system flushed last fall. I only use Prestone but dont know if it contains silicant. I want one fron speedtweaks, but the cost is an issue.

Something new. I notice my truck doesnt leak at all if the switch for the cold/hot inside the cab is always switched as far to the cold side as possible. So if I donr run my heater, no leaks. What does this mean besides freezing my tail off in winter while driving?

For andrew above. My truck leaked water onto my floorboard for 2 years.Really a headache. I opened the hood finally and cleaned out the little rubber nozzle on the firewall with my finger and it still leaked for about a week. THen i opened the hood again and took the nozzle off and there was my problem.Leaves and dirt had clogged the whole behind the drip nozzle. So check that too.

Water pumps are pretty hard to mess up on a rebuild. You have a cast body, cast or stamped impeller, a shaft and a brass bushing and sometimes a piece of leather. If you got a bad one it must be a fluke! I can not reitierate how much of an idiot someone would have to be to mess up a rebuild on a coolant pump especial at a factory level. Car Quest has the closet to OEM in terms of quality but any one should be able to get you a decent domestic pump. I would agree with the previous poster about flushing your system and useing either Dexcool of HOAT phosphate and silicate free coolants. When we say flush we mean reverse flushing the system!
