Message: Years ago you could buy a speedometer cable lube at auto parts stores. I think it was graphite-based. In a pinch, people have substituted by pouring a tiny bit of automatic transmission fluid down the cable jacket. But I don't know if that eventually softens the material.

Message: sorry i didnt get a email about this being repllied to. probably my fault. thanks i thought there was a grease that was used. or heavy oil. ii suppose grease may be better than oil. my speedo is jumping from probably a dry inner cable.

Message: Forget the auto parts stores, Try a motor cycle shop
or parts store. It's a common problem on bikes &
more then a few co's make products.
(some of them are wax based "non-corrosive")
