Message: Very possible that loose connection could have caused the audio portion of the radio to fry. Getting 'partial' power while turned on would result in higher resistance. Modern electronics do not handle this kind of thing as well as older systems. There are companies out there that do reparair factory radios (Google auto radio repair). Most people don't bother because aftermarket radios can be had for less. Problem is some vehicles have 'other signals' passing through the factory radio. My wife's 4Runner has the dash dimmer ran through the radio. Now that there is an aftermaket system installed I can no longer dim the instrument cluster.
Good luck
