Message: Yep, if the Alexandra Pauls get there way then we could be driving something like a electric smart car with a range to Wal-mart and back.
I wonder what you could pull with that?

Message: Joe C.
A manual transmission doesn't increase torque. With the same engine, it will have less parasitic loss however, than an auto will. Slightly less loss to the wheels.
Drive it like its paid for!

Message: But a manuel transmission makes better use of your torque. For instance you always pull better up hill with a manuel than a auto and why? Becuase of the gear ratio.
BTW: I hope you copied the link to see the awsome truck:)

Message: Always ? No Joe, that isn't true. Manuals as well as automatics are made with many different ratios.

Message: Kowalski,
Take your stuff and buzz off!! I think what joe saying that Manuals have much lower gear ratio's than a automatic. Take the Getrag 56 for example you have a 6.10:1 gear ration for first and for the 48RE thats no longer in use, you only had a 2.48:1. So for pulling up hilles I happen to like the manuel myself.
BTW: who's making manuels for Dodge these day's? Because the terminated there deal with Getrag.

Message: Ok let's go back to the subject of the tread first
I wouldn't mind owning a truck like that unless CNG is sky-high or you have to use coal to get the furnace going .But, since people don't know how to read the owners Manuel its better just to keep it an attraction to some fair.
Manuel VS Auto.
Well it depends, and auto does make up from its higher gear ratio all thinks to the torque converter and also lack of any stalls when moving from a dead stop.
But a manuel is still more idea for towing because you don't have to worry about such concerns like heat or fluid level.
And then again what Joe.C stated is right, if you want steeper gear ratio's the manuel tranny is idea for what ever your needs are.
