Subject: Dodge Dakota Instrument Cluster Problems IP: Logged
Message: I have a 1999 Dodge Dakota. Manual, 3.9 liter v-6, 106,000 miles. Its been a terrific machine and I've had very few issues. I've had it for 6 years. One day last week I got into my truck and started it only to notice that my ABS and BRAKE lights came on the dash. I thought man thats weird. Then I got to driving down the road an noticed that my speedometer would only work over 35mph. I got to looking around about this problem and found owners with similar problems on here. Chrysler knows of this problem and offers a fix. Its a thirty dollar wiring harness that replaces the right side harness behind the instrument cluster. So I replaced it. Needless to say I'm still having the same problem. Nothing has changed. Truck still runs great and the rest of the gauges all work but its pretty annoying to say the least to have no speedometer at low speeds and two warning lights staring you in the face all the time. If someone could help me out here please do because I am baffled!!

Message: ABS and BRAKE lights on at the same time is usually the ABS sensor at the rear differential.

Message: if ABS & BRAKE lights are on and the speedo doesn't work below a certain speed it is the RWAL sensor located on the center section of the rear diff.

Message: I've had the same problem with a
99 Dodge Dakota 5.9 l V8 but
none of the gauges work and none
of the lights come on except the
dash light itself. blinker
lights come on when I use the
blinkers. And my high beam
indicator will come on. But if I
push the emergency brake
everything comes on and works
except all the lights stay on
like to check engine, airbags,
seat belt, fuel etc. Any ideas
on that

Message: When I changed my harness for my 93 2.5L 5s, lights
were still acting up, turns out the motherboard was
fried.. Maybe give that a look?
