Message: The point of lower coolant temps is to keep the heads cooler in extreme conditions - towing on a hot day in the mountains. That prevents pinging, and the truck runs better and makes a tad more power without the pinging.
This is a mixed bag in Dodge trucks. Some people have done this to their stock truck with good results. Some have done it with terrible results. If you reprogram the computer with something like a Hypertech, you'll be a lot happier.

LOL, WHAT A RIP OFF!!!
Go to any parts store, get a 180 t-stat for a 5.2 or a 5.9, notch the edge with tin snips, and you'll get your 180 t stat for under 10 bucks!!
Mines been in there since 2001!
