Subject: 4wd Shifter Loose / Transfer Case Leakin IP: Logged
Message: My 4wd shifter has a lot of play in it along the shift column. In other words, even though it stays in gear, the shifter loosely bounces forward and back in between N and 4-high with only the slightest touch.
Furthermore, the transfer case has had a slow leak over the past few months.
Is there a specific seal or bearing that is related to both issues?
What happens in 2wd if the transfer case goes unserviced or fails (I have little need for 4x4 anyway...). I am looking to take this truck on a long trip in a couple months. Should I be worried about this issue before I leave?

Message: Sounds like you haven't been underneath to determine anything. Your going to have to look. If it is something wore out replace it. The leak shouldn't be difficult to locate. one thing I have learned.Small leaks can stay small for years. They can also become very large very fast at some point. Leaks become serious repairs so advice is without question. FIX IT SOON.
