Message: Most likely is your catalytic converter..next time it's cool enough, hit the cat a couple times and see if it rattles..if it is, take it to any dodge service station and they will replace it for free(they have to by law, if it is the cat that's causing the rattle)

Message: Check all the nuts & bolts on the exhaust system and for all the hangers as well. It is possible that something has loosened up since new or since installing your aftermarket cat-back.

Message: I had my Cat replaced by the dealer for free about 10,000 miles ago, right before it went over 80,000. The Chrysler exhaust warranty is 8 years or 80,000, whichever comes first. They have to replace the cat. It rattled like a sun of a gun when i would take off in first gear(I have a stick shift). It hasnt made any noise since. They shouldnt hassle you about, I think it is pretty common with our trucks, atleast thats what the dealer acted like.

Message: My '94 Dakota had a horrible rattle at idle. What I did was remove the catalytic converter, cut three sides, peel the tin back, smashed out the honeycomb baffles and welded the top back on. If you need the cat for emissions this isn't a good idea, but here we only need what appears to be a converter. I found a big increase in top end power and an almost V8 tone at idle.
