Subject: Torsion Bar Lift? IP: Logged
Message: I have found in a few places on the internet that people are offering new keyed torsion bar adjusting cams for the front and blocks for the rear as a 2" lift for the lower 90's Dakota. If you crank on the torsion bar, doesn't that make the front tire move to a negative camber? How much adjusting can you do on the torsion bar before it moves the camber? Any?

Message: Can't you get about 2" in the front just by cranking up what's already there, like the gen 3's ? Mopars don't usually need the keys. Good idea to get an alignment afterward.

Message: Yes, cranking up the torsion bars moves the tires towards negative camber. It's the geometry of the front suspension since your upper control arms are shorter and at more of an angle compared to the lower control arms. If the camber is set correctly, as soon as you start to increase the pre-load on the torsion bars, you start to introduce negative camber to the equation.
