Subject: door lock issue IP: Logged
Message: Hi Guys,
I am looking for some sugestions. I have a 2001 quad cab. The door lock switch on the driver side door works intermittent. Also the door locks just start locking and unlocking while not touching the button. The passanger side switch works fine also the remote for the alarm/door locks works fine. With the driver side switch removed from the wiring it will still lock and unlock by itself.
Any ideas?
thanks

south? Easy to replace yourself..
First thing I did to my 02's PCM was cut the foil
trace to that STUPID chime. Gawd, I hate those
things!

Message: hey guys
Thank you for your ideas. I also am thinking it is the timer control mod (pcm behind left side kick panel). Its to bad the dealer wants $220.00 for it. Oh well, if that fixes it and I dont have to pay labor I will be happy.

Message: Probably find one a lot cheaper at Car-Part.com, whatever you want to call it. You might see it listed both ways. I believe your PCM (power control module) is actually on the right front fender; but that shouldn't be what is causing the problem.

Message: So I wanted to give an update.
Today I replaced the TCM. I got it from a salave yard (the TCM and a horn for 35 dollars) compared to a new TCM for 230.00. The problem seems to be gone, so thats a good thing.
But now my remote for the doors and alarm will not work. Do you think something needs to be reprogramed? What needs to be done? Any help would be great.

Message: It may be that the used central timer module you put in needs to be programmed to match your truck. I think the dealer is the only place to get that done. You need the Chrysler DRB scan tool to program it. Here's a link to to info on theCTM:

Another possibility is the salvage CTM came from a truck that did not have keyless entry. Maybe the dealer can tell with the DRB whether the CTM you bought will control a keyless entry system. I have no idea if there are keyless and non-keyless entry CTM's, but the parts dept. at the dealership might know.
Good luck with it. Let us all know how it turns out.

Message: I replaced the door lock/actuator/switch--the whole thing. Everything is hooked up right but the door will still not open from the outside.
