Message: I've got a 2001 Dakota Club Cab, 4.7 litre engine, automatic. When I first got the truck I noticed a tapping noise that sounded like it was on the windshield or behind the dash. It only occurs at speeds 60 mph and faster. The faster you go the worse the noise gets. Well, lately, not only has the noise gotten worse, it now sounds like the wind is coming right through the windshield. I took it to the dealership and he said there is nothing he could do and this is just how the Dakota is desinged. He said to put installation in the fresh air vents in the back of the truck behind the seats. I did this and no change. I now have to turn the radio up real loud to muffle the sound. If you have any suggestions, please let me know. Thanks.

Message: Part of your issue sounds like the weather stripping is loose or coroded. My 94 has the same issue, however my driver door isn't the original and that is where my air is coming in from. If you can see if the dealer will replace the windshield weather stripping. As for the tapping sound, someone else will have to help on that one as i am stumped. I am assuming that you have already check it for pining and loose nuts. Good luck and let us know what the final answere is.

Message: I have a cc and I have no noise so what you do is go back to that dealer and say hey I have a warranty and this truck is brand new and should not be making this noise because if thats the way the truck is designed than wouldn't they all make the same noise and wouldn't you have more people complaining so I don't care if you have to take the whole truck apart JUST FIX THE THE G.D. THING.
You might not want to swear but I know how dealers can fux people around so I get pissed when I hear or see people getting screwed!

Message: Sounds like a problem with the speedometer cable or something wrong with the gauges.
