FOR THE FLAMERS .......... PROOF POSITIVE!
The 75,000 Mile Oil Change
Documented in 1978 in SAE Paper 780951 by D.B. Barton, J.A. Murphy and K.W. Gardner, “Synthesized Lubricants Provide Exceptional Extended Drain Passenger Car Performance”, whereby they drove 75,000 miles for three years with no oil change and no engine damage.
How It Was Done? SYNTHETIC MOTOR OIL!
Long drain capabilities of synthetic oils are well established. Of course we do not recommend three-year drain intervals today, but Amsoil does recommend oil change intervals of 2 to 3 times manufacturers recommendations (maximum 1 year or 25,000 miles). We offer a 1 year or 25,000 mile Amsoil Oil Filter also.
PROOF as documented in SAE Paper 780951.

"
I started my new motor out on Valvolibe 40# racing oil and at 30 hours
switched to Amzoil 40#. After less then 10 hours the distributor drive
gear destroyed itself. I called Amzoil and the tech there admitted the
poor high load carrying capacity their synthetic oils have has caused
that same failure in lots of engines. I am back on Valvoline and all is
running well. For what is is worth the syn oil did run about 15 degrees
cooler then the petroleum oil does. "
and go past that read the whole board!
"I'd never use synthetic during initial break-in, but I can't believe it
caused the problem you experienced, although, I'll admit to using only
Mobil 1. I've never been an AMSOIL fan, but that is based admittedly on
the fact that I find their marketing so "over the top" that it causes me
to also mistrust anything else they claim.
Matt"

Forseti,
I do not have a link to the SAE Paper 780951 document.
It was documented in 1978, well before Al Gore developed
the Internet (ha ha), so it is not available online.
If you are interested, it can be found in the following publication:
Journal of Synthetic Lubrication 1984-2005
Perhaps there is a copy at your local library ...
a University Library ... or a Tech School Library that offers
a degree in Tribology - but not a Municipal Library.

TRUE - Amsoil does not own refineries. We are a "blender" just like Redline and Royal Purple and many other speciality oil companies. We use our own "proprietary" formulations to create a superior oil.
A comparable example:
All beer is made from a combination of water, yeast, malt and hops - YET - they all have different characteristics and tastes.
Some beers taste like horse pee ... others delicious.
How many beer companies produce their own water, yeast, malt and hops? Most buy the raw ingredients and "blend", boil, ferment, package, and distribute their own "proprietary" product.
It's the same concept."
