Subject: Oil pressure drop at stop???
IP: Logged

Message:
When I am driving, my oil pressure gauge reads just over 40# when I come to a stop, it drops way down to the left, not at 0, but at the first line! It has done this since I bought the truck, but today, sitting at idle at a stoplight, the engine seemed to kinda hicup. Never did it again the rest of the day. Just wondering if this is a normal or safe drop in pressure, or should I ba alarmed?

It's not uncommon to see a slight drop at a stop but it is to see it drop that much.

it could be sender unit issue. i'm assuming you have checked the oil level and it's ok? how long since your last oil change?

If you get no/low pressure, engine can cut out and die.
