Subject: What are the best tires to get???? IP: Logged
Message: My wrangler RT/S's are wearing out, and I'm looking for better tires. I'm looking for 31's, but if someone knows that 32x12.5x15 will fit on stock rims with only the 4X4 lift, then let me know.
I've been looking at BFG All Terrain (top choice), Cooper ST (which is basically an "All Terrain"), and General Grabber2 (I think it is).
I need some inputs on these or other tires that are a good all around tire. I want an all terrain for the better gas milleage over MT's, but I want them to still look good.

Message: Not sure of the miles on this set as I only run them in winter (235/75R15 for best winter traction). In the past, I've put 40,000 miles on them on lighter Toyotas; then handed them down to my father in law with almost half the tread left. Been runnuing the wider tires that came with the truck in warm months. The only time I've ever been stuck with them was trying to plow 2' snow out of a low section of my driveway, before I put the deflector on top of my plow and snow was coming over the top and built up under the truck. If your tires can't touch the ground because you're hung up, can't really blame that on the tires...
I've bailed them out at work; plowing stuff we couldn't move with their full size Chevy. You'd do fine with the wider 31's if you're not plowing.

Message: They sell 31x11.5 or 12.5?
Or are you talking about getting 32X12.5?
-and I'm not plowing snow, I live in middle GA. BELEIVE me, we DON'T have snow...EVER.

Message: Talking about 31's being wider than the 235's. Usually you have to go taller than 31 to get wider than 10.5

Message: Thanks for the input. I can't wait to get some new tires, my rear two are older than the front two b/c that's how they came when I got the truck. Now they're wearing out on the front and are not balanced right, they are making a noise every time they make one revolution. And I've always had a problem with the back ones losing traction on the get go. of course thats due to not much weight in the rear.

Message: I'm sure the silentarmor are great, but I just can't justify paying that much for them.
I'm thinking about going witht the Duelers or BFG A/T's.

Message: Goodyear Fortera Triple Treads! You say you can't justify spending the $$'s for the Silent Armour? You really should look at these tires as a 2nd choice. I've had mine on for about 6000 miles, installed this May long weekend, driven in snow, slush, rain, ice and 100 degree heat with ZERO problems.
These tires make the RTS feel and sound like a wagon wheel....

Message: I say the Bridgestone Dueler AT Revo's. Make sure you get the Revo's. The Regular duelers are no good.
I have 31's and they will tap out at right around the 55k. They do get a little loud when they are close to the end of the tread life.
Dry and wet pavement traction is top notch, and I have never had a problem in the central NY snow. Most of the time I can get around in 2wd.

Message: I paid 150 installed at dunn tire. Tirerack is nice for shopping, but they won't put the tires on for ya, or dispose of the old ones, ect. That stuff all adds up real fast unless you know a guy who knows a guy.

Message: I really love my Bridgestone Dueler A/T Revos. I put them on 17" RT rims (265/70R17)and have been running them for over 20K with no signs of wear. They have an eye grabbing aggressive look/performance yet are quiet. In short the best tires I have ever had. They were the highest consumer rated tire when I was looking.
Here's a link to them at tire rack where I got mine. Someone also told me Sam's was carrying them but I never confirmed that.
