Message: I towed a 16' lowboy with a Bobcat 753 Skidloader and an extra bucket with mine. I could only get my truck to do about 43mph...
That's a combined towing load of roughly 7500 lbs, 1500 for the lowboy and 6000 for the skidloader!
I have towed cars on that lowboy before and not had a lick of trouble with my 97 CC 3.9 4x4. But that day was especially bad for the Dak!

Message: I tow a 2,000 lbs. popup camper with a 3.9 and it's fine. A little sluggish up a steep hill but not horrible. I'm about to add a trans. cooler for added protection.

Message: I just traded my Dakota in for a Toyota Tundra. No towing problems at all. The 4.7 Dakota did pretty good but the Toyota is much better and I like to dependability. Bye DC.

Message: My sister and brother in law managed to wipe out 3 vehicles in one accident.
He was driving the motor home, became confused by the ramp signs in a interchange under construction, and stopped in the triangular area where the exit veers off. She was driving the Ram Dually, towing the Jeep.
She hit the brakes, the Jeep pushed the rear of the truck up, and they plowed into the back of the Bounder.
Point? The Jeep may be heavier than your tow, but remember, trailors can be dangerous!

Message: I used to have a 91 Dakota with a V6 and 5 speed. Did some towing with it. I towed my '69 Mustang on a U-Haul tow dolly from VA to NY. Not a problem.
You can tow a trailer with a 4 wheeler. Just not very fast. Don't be afraid to use your V6. Use a trans cooler, and take your time. It will slow down on hills, and it takes a while to get to speed. Be easy on the gas pedal, and you won't have any problems. Be patient, stick to the right lane.
