just wanted some input on my wheels. i've got a '01 qc black with stock wheels. i looked in to chroming but then i thought powdercoating would be good for cost at less then half the price of chrome. just wanted to know if you all thought black would look good if i left the lugs chrome or if that's too much black. i know it's trival to a lot of you but a couple hundred bucks is still a lot of cash to me so i just wanted some thoughts before i spent it. thanks.

Personally, I think it would look pretty sweet if they were black, and you left the lugs and center cap chrome. That's how mine are.

I was in Discount Tire recently.
They had several wheels that were mostly black, with some shiny (aluminum?) accents.
Those wheels looked great!
Wish I had some.

that's what made me think of powder coating cause i can't afford aftermarket wheels even @ discount tire. i'm just nervous about doing it with stock wheels. but i think it would look good. i should find out what they'd charge to chrme the center caps while the wheels are getting blacked out.

Buy a can of spray paint and test the color before spending the money.

That's a good idea shatto.
I saw an ad on TV for washable paint for cars.
He could try that.

Orangehat,
For what you will pay for powdercoat and chrome, you could buy new wheels.

i just talked to a couple local guys and for chroming he said $100/wheel and the powdercoat guy he said $50/wheel for sandblasting and pc. i didn't think to ask about how much just the centercaps would be for chroming. if i didn't do the centercaps it would just be the $50/wheel. it's pretty tough to find aftermarket wheels for that. i haven't heard of that washable spraypaint. can i find that at any parts store?

On the other hand, barring accident, the stock wheels will outlast the truck.
You could put the money to a more productive use.

now you're just talking crazy shatto....that makes too much sense. honestly though that's why i can't convince myself it's ok to buy aftermarket. i just wanted to see if there was a more cost effective way to make them look nice.
