im not sure if the 48RE would fit in a dakota, its a pretty big tranny
47RH was the old "heavy duty" tranny

1990 sport RC SB, 1995 318drivetrain, 3.92 gears (came with truck) 95 dash/steering wheel, hearthrob exhaust, headers, cutout after y-pipe, necessary electric fan add-a-leafs, 30x9.5 mud tires, cranked T-bars, AR 39 15x8 rims, grill guard, roll bars

So the 47RH will work on a 94 Dakota with a 408 and will be able to handle the power if properly bilt up right? and it also has the electronic overdrive and such

Ummm, no. The 47-series bolts up to the V10 and Cummins turbo-diesel, which have different bolt pattern than the V8's. However, you can build, or have built, a 46-series that has all the best guts in it. See the link I posted already.
