Message: Rhino lining comes in many different colors. I believe you can also order custom colors. No, you cannot paint over a Rhino lining because it won't stick and would wear and chip within days.
You are talking about a LOT of money by the way. If it costs roughly $350 to $450 (for just plain black) just to do the bed, imagine all the time and work it would be to do the entire truck. You're talking around $2k (probably more!) for just black. LOL You are also talking about making your truck a lot more heavier.
I have seen trucks with it sprayed along the bottom trim of the truck to protect againsts rocks and rust. That actually looks pretty decent.

Message: Wouldn't the truck really get hot from the dull black when it fades? It would just absorb heat wouldn't it?

Message: Any dark color, whether it be a paint or a rhino lining spray, will absorb heat at a great rate than a lighter color.

This is what I put in my 99 at 2 months old. I haul a lot of metal (I prefab)in my machine shop. It does't have a mark on it in 6 years and best of all they state and I conferm, They have the best UV protecton availble and it's clear through the coating, not just sprayed on the surface. Mine shines like the day it was installed and I have never done a thing to promote this other then the standard none touch car wash. They have tons of colors, including color match, and even several GLOW IN THE DARK colors. If I was doing my truck I think Glow in the dark would be totally cool and differant. This stuff can handle -40 degrees to 300plus degree and I also be;ieve this as I have gone to the steel supply and recieved metal cut as I watched and put right in my truck. No bed dammage ever.I've seen a lot of beds over the years and all of them have been dammafes one way or the other but the think I hate most is the fading problem. I'm very proud of my choice.
So many problems .... So little time

Message: you should only need 1 coat. i'd go with Line-X. It is sprayed on HOT and bonds to the surface almost instantly. a couple of pluses - Line-X lining doesn't fade like the others(Rhino,Herculiner, etc..) and it has a nationwide warrantee. for the others, warrantee repair has to be done at the shop that did the job to begin with. it's also available in virtually any color you want. that's my .02

Message: Obio3,
I liked the Perma-Tech website. They have some great colors. I did not see any warranty info.
What warranty did you get?
As far as I can tell, Line-X is the only one to offer a nationwide warranty.
Thanks

Message: I saw a Ford Aerostar with a 'bra' that was applied with a bed liner of some sort. Kind of cool. Kind of permanent also! I considered applying some to my Toyota 4x4 that I had (lower body to protect from rocks and chips) but traded it in on my Dak before I ever actually got around to doing it.
