I am swapping the rear out of a 1987 5-speed dakota into my 1992 Automatic Dakota and I was wondering if there was a gearing difference between the two rear ends?

theres a big difference in gear ratios for the model years... and they also pend on wether you got a hexgon rear cover or round rear cover...
check out this site www.car-parts.com its a site that will tell ya alot info when searching for used parts....


this for a 92 dakota
4x2, hexagon cover (Chrysler 7-1/4), 2.76 ratio
4x2, hexagon cover (Chrysler 7-1/4), 3.21 ratio

wow... Ok, will I am swapping out my 1992 4x2 Auto 8 1/4 rear for a 1987 4x2 5-speed 8 1/4.... I'm not sure of the ratios at all though... Hmmm
