Subject: Spare tire cover? IP: Logged
Message: Is there such a thing? I ask because when I took off my spare tire, the obvious beating it takes underneath was glaringly apparent on both the sidewall and the stock rim. Does anyone know of a place that sells wheel covers which would protect the tire underneath?

Message: Would'nt any vinyl style wheel and tire cover work? Such as the ones you see on the back of vans or Jeeps? If you wanna get really carried away they have those metal ones also(which are usually seen on vans).

Message: That's a good question. My spare came the same tire size and wheel as the other 4 on my truck so it's probably pretty expensive. I was thinking about making a cover out of this old tonneau cover I had. I mean hey, it's under your truck, no one sees it, so why spend money to keep it nice when you could keep it nice for free.

Message: Covers don't work they actually make it worse. Water and dirt will come from above the bracket and the cover then traps in more moisture do to puddling of the water. This causes rust and has been known to rust everything tight and you will have to cut your spare off with a torch. best is to coat everything in a a light grease so it does not rust.
