Subject: Oil changed after ???? miles IP: Logged
Message: i bought a 2000 dak v6 that the owner beat the sh!t out of, but i dont know the last time he changed the oil. i changed it today with some 10w40 and the old oil was half way up the add mark before i changed it, when it came out it was thick and dark black. what should i do and what do u think it could have done to the engine(w/ 50,000 miles on it). what additive should i put in it(lacus, etc)????

Message: should i go to a synthetic oil, b/c a mechanic said that if it wasnt using synthetic since a couple thousand miles after birth it will harm the engine. and if i should use it how do i go about the transfer? i will use mobile 1 and a napa gold filter!

Message: switching to and from Synthetics is a myth. its fine to do it. however pick the proper grade of oil if you don't know the condition of the engine 10w30 will be fine.
there are oil system cleaners available that you run in a hot engine for x amout of time they are available at any auto parts store. remember to read the lable for proper use or they will hurt your engine.

Message: well if your engine has alot of miles on it. yo urun the risk of finding leaks around seals when you switch to a syn. as syn will clean the sluge build up around the seals. you could get a leak. but alot of people that has switch with high milage and no leaks. but some people has gotten them. so just to FYI so your not surpised if this happends. I switched to syn at 30,000 miles and no prob and truck runs better.
