Subject: A/C not blowing air IP: Logged
Message: I am by no means an A/C expert, but I know someone here is. Last night while turning into the car-wash, my A/C just stopped blowing air. It was on the "MAX Air" setting and now, it doesn't blow at all.
The only exception is when I get the truck up to about 40mph and very cold air starts coming out of the vents. This tells me that the compressor is still functional and is running freon through the radiator, but no air is moving across it.
Can anyone help me diagnose what (specifically) is malfunctioning and how I can fix it?
Thanks in advance.

Message: Open doors to cab, turn on max, look under hood and verify that the compressor is engaging (might even hear it from inside cab). With the HVAC controls on max, you should definately hear the blower motor. Could be resitor pack which controls blower motor speed. If all good, could be the blower motor itself.
Also, the freon doesn't go into radiator, it goes to condensor mounted next to radiator. also on 2001, it's R-134a not freon (r-12). Just some notes if you ever call and talk to a/c shop.

Message: its just a stupid $12 part. the resistor is located under the hood. look on the passanger side top end of the firewall. 2 screws hold it in. should be a 5 wire plug. thats where it is on my 93. probably going to be similar on yours.

Message: Jayb's right...The resistor pack...$10 plus tax (dealer item), but on my '02 it was under the dash on the right side...Two screws and one plug if memory serves me correctly.

Message: Same thing happened in my '01 QC. A/C was working fine then just 'died' quit blowing any air at all. It was the resistor and it is located under the dash on the passenger side. Dealer charged me $14 to replace it. Took about 5 minutes. Good luck.
