Message: ok, I've had my truck to the dealership several times, and they have yet to duplicate my problem. I have a '98 dakota with the 44RE transmission. When driving under normal acceleration, it's fine, but when you step on it, to pass someone, the tranny will slip in and out of neutral several times from 3rd to 2nd, and I do mean several times. The thing really kicks, and bucks as it's trying to drop into 2nd. It doesn't happen all the time, but it is getting worse. Any ideas?

Message: I forgto to mention that the transmission has been flushed, and the dealership had their diagnostic computer hooked into the truck as they were driving it, and found nothing. They also replaced the throttle pressure cable, thinking that was the problem. They said it was hanging up

Message: I was going to say throttle pressure cable too. But they already changed that :p
Maybe a valve sticking in the valve body.
That sucks. Tranny's can be the WORST to diagnose!
I recently swapped in a USED tranny for my aunt on her 95 Caravan. It was bad. Now I have to swap in another.
Nothing WORSE than doing THAT JOB more than once. Way worse than doing it in a truck :(
