Message: Hi everybody, I have a question to all other Dakota owners. Here is the situation:
I have an 03 Dakota, 4X4 4.7L. Well, since march of 03 i have put 70k miles on the truck so far. I have put it through "hell" in simple terms. I have used this poor truck anywhere from offroading to the anbsolute end of its capabilities, used it to haul around loads in excess of a ton (not too frequently) and is always under constant load and unload, as my dad own a general contractors business and borrows my truck often. Point being:
In the past 15k miles or soi have noticed my shocks to not damp very well, they are bouncy and float on the highway at high speeds. (only floats if the road is not even) I have the larger tires (forgot the size) stock, and they are in fair condition, about time to change them. Well, the truck as amazing handling, for its weight, height and body style. But lately, its been a little to floaty all over. I am certain it is the shocks, but at 70K? We have larg trucks used in constriction with over 200K miles and the shocks are fine.... I assume the problem is the front end mostly, as the rear doesnthave much weight to float on the road. Anywho, Im askign does anyone else feel this with trucks that are less used than mine and such> Just to compare and see...
Also, any reccomendations on which shocks to get? Thanks in advance.

Comparing your truck with the full size trucks is an "apples & oranges" comparison.
Two completely different vehicles!!
For your truck, given the amount of REAL use that you are putting it through, just go with Rancho RS5000 up front and look at the idea of an add-a-leaf on your rear axle to support the additional weight you've been carrying.

Message: I replaced my oem shocks at 25,000 mi.
One was leaking and another was rubbing.
I put Monroe Reflex shocks on all 4 corners, actually SPEEDY did , and they're now 25,000 mi. old .
Still performing like new. No regrets.
