Subject: stalling and rough idling IP: Logged
Message: I have another small problem with my 1995 ext cab 4x4 Dakota, 5.2 engine, auto tranny. A couple of weeks ago I got it out after sitting for a month or so. Every time I came to a full stop, the engine would die. I have noticed over the last year or so that it would idle rough, at times it sounds like it has an oversized cam in it. I've made a point of taking it out more often and trying to run it more. It doesn't stall very often anymore, but the RPM's drop pretty low at times.

Message: How old is the battery ? When voltage gets below a certain point (this will drop from sitting too) the PCM can forget the idle and have to relearn it. Often the first symptom the battery is getting weak in the newer Daks (I know this is true for my '00, maybe for your '95 also). Might not hurt to run some injector cleaner through it too if its been sitting.
Lead, follow, or get out of the way
