I have recently gotten a little loss in mpg, and more ping going on
on my 99 3.9. its got 86k on it. I have already changed all
injectors o2 sensors, as they all neede it. Now I am going to clean
my TB and IAC cuz they need it. Now when I do so, I am going to
check to see if I have some oil under manifold to see if the belly
pan gasket is toast. If it is, I dont wanna fix the gasket (unless its
really easy and someone can help/direct me to where to get how to
do it) how much would it be for a technicial to fix it? What would a
dealership cost to do so just for kicks? I'd probably go to my trusty
local area, but i'd give me a ballpark figure. Thanks

Your friendly DC stealership will rake you over
the coals in labor.
Do it yourself and learn how doing so or get some
help but stay away from the stealership if you
can.

I don't think the v6 has as big of a problem with belly gaskets that the v8s have. I could be wwrong though, as I have never owned a V8. If you want to be cheap, get a tube of The Right Stuff gasket maker. Pull the intake, clean it, apply to the pan, let it sit to get a little tacky, then reassemble the intake. Let it cure for a little bit, then reinstall in the truck. It is not a difficult process, just time consuming. You will also need new intake gaskets, bypass hose, maybe some new vacuum lines if yours are cracked or brittle. A good torque wrench is also needed, as intake manifolds are very specific on the torque for the bolts and the tightening sequence.
