Message: Yesterday, on my way home from a cruise night, I heard a snapping sound and now my right rear wheel locks under hard braking. It is an 89 Shelby Dak and has rear wheel anti-lock. The anti-lock light is off. DK what the problems is. Also, rear brakes are new with less than 500 miles on the brakes.

Message: You'll need to pull the drum and take a look - probably some of the brake pad retaing hardware has come apart, allowing the pad to shuck around.
Lead, follow, or get out of the way

Message: Pulled the right rear drum and everything looked ok. I did drive in reverse and apply the brakes several times and that seemed to do the trick. Stops fine now. One thing I noticed is that when
I pull on the wheel (fully tightened, but on teh jack stand) I have a lot of play in the backing plate.

Message: Tighten the backing plat or put on new plates, they may be egg shaped where they connect to the axle. That may be the problem why your brakes are locking.
