Subject: Sliding Window Seal IP: Logged
Message: Anyone have the vertical seal on the sliding rear window tear off? Mine did. Its the seal that the window slides against while opening. It just pealed off. I'm still waiting for the dealership to call back on this. Any help would be appreciated.

Message: Hey guys, I realize this is an old post, but its a recent problem for me. Like others, the vertical seal for the sliding rear window on my Dakota disappeared. Searched for a replacement w/no luck. Had a roll of 3/4" Velcro, so I cut a 12-in-long piece to get the fuzzy side. Then cut two 12-in lengths of 3/4" wide dbl-sided foam tape. Placed a length of sticky tape on the back of the Velcro strip then added another to make it thick enough to seal the opening. Note: I removed the backing from the side of the tape that would stick the seal to the frame that held the old seal. Leave an inch or so for pigtails at each end and replace the backing on the tape. Then slide the seal into place and gently remove the tape backing by pulling the pigtails, which break easily. Pull them vertically because pulling sideways will break them every time). After it was done I colored the barely visible edges of the white sticky tape with a black marker. It made a great seal that slides easily and looks OEM. Tools: a narrow putty knife, bent a very short hook at the end of a piece of wire and two popsicle sticks (really). Took about an hour, which included three tries to get the layers of tape and Velcro in straight. They don't have to be perfectly straight to work, but the job looks better. Hope this helps someone. Thanks for reading this far. Claude
