Subject: clunky front end, any ideas on a fix????
IP: Logged

Message:
I own an 02 qc 4x4 that has about 80 k on it. The front end has been clunking intermitantly when driving over uneven road for a while and im flat fed up with it and im trying to find a fix and i need some ideas. I have gone over the whole thing time and time again and everything is tight, i also had it checked by a front end guy and he cant find anything either. Lets see here is a list of parts that have been replaced with zero change in the clunk. Ball joints ( all 4) replace with moogs, outer rod ends, upper control arm bushings, shocks, rack buchings, intermediate shaft, outer rod ends, sway bar bushings( all 4). Any ideas on what else to look at? When the clunks happen its when i hit a bunch of small bumps in succession, its really bad on any type of dirt road thats not smooth. Its really pops and sounds like something is loose but i for the life of me cant find it. HELP!!!!!

This should fall under the Dakota recall by dodge to replace the front end upper ball joints.

Bigdave, thanks. the berings feel tight but maybe i need to take a better look at them.

Thomas, its not the ball joints i can assure you. I replaced both the upper and lower ball joints less then 10k miles ago with moog( read much better then stock junk) ball joints.

Don't forget the steering rack and the intermediate shaft.
