Subject: 305/60/17 - Will it work? IP: Logged
Message: I'm wanting to put Nitto NT-404 Extreme Force tires on my 17X9 R/T style rims. Will this fit or is it too wide? Is there a way that I could widen the rim itself to make it fit? I'm wanting the widest tire possible and I think this is it. Any info. would help.

Message: Those tires will fit on the R/T rims no problem. The question is will they fit on your dakota. Those tires will not fit unless you have a 4x4 with your torsion bars cranked. Even then they will probably rub because they are so wide. What are the spec on your truck 2wd or 4wd then we can help you better?

Message: I have a 2wd at the stock height. Right now I have Goodyear Eagle GT II 275/60/R17 on my truck in the front and back and I don't have any problems fitting. I was wanting to put the 305/60/R17 on the back and 275/65/R17 on the front using the Nitto. Both of the Nitto tires are the same diameter, but I thought putting the smaller one's on the front would clear (I know the 305's won't fit). The front tire I have now gives me 3/4 of an inch clearance from the closest contact surface when my wheel is turned hard left or right. I did find on the Nitto site that the rim could hold, so I guess my final question is would a 275/65/R17 fit on the front and allow me to fully turn? Anyone try this?

Message: I don't believe that would fit. I am not positive though. Its a 31 that is over 11 inches wide. That is a little bigger than what most stock 4x4's come with. It would be a tight fit. Turn your steering only have way and measure the clearence.
