Message: When I have a heavy foot sometimes , shifting from 1st to 2nd , there is this grinding noise coming from a little back from the transmission , its an automatic , and it only does it while shifting from 1st to 2nd , im thinkin its somthing to do with the rear end or the ujoints? im not really sure , going to see if someone at a transmission shop can ride with me so I can show him... It dosnt do it everytime , thats why I really dont think its the transmission , and ive had a bran new rebuilt one put in it already!

Message: at first it was doing it around a curve , I figured it was the limited slip. but then it started doing it on the straight away.
however, when I manualy shift 1 - 2'nd it shifts nice and hard with no grind... Maybe it is the tranny?!?
I took it to accurate for their 'free test drive' I road with him and right off the bat he said , transmission. Thats kinda odd...
A good friend of mine with a bunch of mech years under his belt swears it isnt the tranny on the other hand , and looked at the underneath ass'end side of my truck and mentioned that the 'drive train' or something similar next to the ujoints was cocked sideways... ?
And about the exaust , ive added a highflow cat and a turbo muffler on her , same size pipeing , no headers...
If it is the tranny I dont want to spend 1500 again just for it to break down again. Instead would I be able to put a cooler / better parts in it to reinforce it?
I admit I dont baby her , but im not beating the heck out of her either
Another thing also... The guy from accurate transmission claimed that I couldnt put a standard in it... Is this true?

Message: you can do anything if you got enough money. many people convert from auto to manual.
i'd stay away from that accurate guy. he's not too accurate.

Message: Ok,
I just got back from driving and I really put it to the test... more of to see where that dern sound is coming from!
I came to a complete stop and stuck my head out the drivers side window. I then mashed halfway on the air peddle and felt some bumping , which at first I didnt know what the heck it was but it turns out , its the bran new tires trying to grip.
Now its at about 2300rpm and ready to shift into 2nd... as its shifting into second with my head out the window. I hear the noise coming directly from the ass'end.
Im now almost positive its coming from the rear end... I did some reading on them , and the 10 bolt rear end actualy is made for the 4 cylinder daks!!!
...
If the noise is coming from all the way in the back , wouldnt you say its the rear end and not the tranny?
Thanks you guys!

Message: make sure that there is nothing rubbing against the drive shaft, possibly the muffler. look under the truck for damage or signs of wear to narrow it down.

Message: Ok , There wasnt anything rubbing up against the driveshaft , I figured it was the carrier barring , wasnt , however it was shot to heck!
Well , I went ahead and did a routine filter change under the transmission pan.
Looked very very bad. Turns out the filter was clogged with metalic from the new clutches I got from the rebuilt tranny. I cleaned out the pan that looked like a little girls face with all that glitter you know? hehe! Replaced the filter , bolted her back up. Filled her with fluid. Drove it about 250 miles easy. Refilled , tryed to make it grind on the 1st to 2nd shift. It wouldnt do it! Instead it did a soft shift instead of a real hard shift.
Now you can actually feal the clutches acting the way they are supposed to , instead of dropping into gear asif I was to have a shift kit.
There is no grinding around corners / straightaways anymore , my overdrive is still kicking. Tailpipe is even louder. I get 2nd gear tire screaches. AND I GET BETTER MPF NOW!!!
I beleive the tranny has been slipping this whole time!
Just imagine if I wouldnt have changed that darn filter! Think I would be getting a 4 speed conversion kit? hehe
