Message: I currently own a '01 Dakota Sport 4.7L 4x4. I am looking for a tech manual that covers this vehicle. The closest one that I can locate is a Haynes manual for '97 - '99. Are there any mechanical differance between the '99 and the '01?

Message: David,if you want to work on your own truck, save your money and buy the factory shop manual, they have much more detail and are made for each model year of truck.

Message: Get the factory service manual if you want a good, in-depth manual. It assumes a basic level of automotive knowledge, but explains things pretty clearly and provides a lot of drawings. It is expensive, but worth it. It can be ordered through http://www.techauthority.daimlerchrysler.com or by calling (800)890-4038.
The Haynes manual for 97-99 won't be applicable to your engine (no 4.7 offered in 97-99), your steering system (DC switched to R&P for 2000 on the 4X4), or your transmission (assuming you have the automatic). Not to mention your dashboard (new dash design for 01), and any of the other bits and pieces that have changed since 97-99.
