Subject: High-Out Put 4.7 Regular Gas?? IP: Logged
Message: Anyone know if the new High Out-Put 4.7 power plant will be able to drink regular Go-Juice??? Any idea what it will get for gas mileage?? My 2002 SLT (4.7 V8) sucked-up $42 buckaroos worth today. I really like the truck, but would like a little more "balls" when I am towing my boat and still have something that will fit in my garage.

Message: Are you saying you would consider trading in for a NEW Dak that has the HO 4.7???
Instead of buying an UGLIER truck (than what ours looks like) and being upside down on payments, do a few mods to yours and have even MORE power.

Message: why not get the HO cams and intake and put them in the truck. and bam you basically have a HO motor. I agree with graphite just do some mods I know thats what I am going to do with my dak. as soon as I can find someone to put some HO cams in my truck cheap lol. I just dont feel like messing with that. murphys law always finds me lol.
42 bucks to fill up. it cost me 26 to fill my dak up. you must have very high gas prices *shudders*

if i could fill up my 25 gallon tank for $26, please let me know where ya live
not everybody has 15 gallon tanks.
HO cams and HO intake doesnt equal HO motor. Heads are different, more compression, different computer tune.. etc etc.
with just the cams and intake, you should be able to run regular gas still. Only thing that would really effect it is the compression ratio and/or the fuel/spark mapping.

Message: Really appreciate the advice--on making some modifications. I really like my present truck--looks great with the almond paint, matching cap and chrome. Both the inside of the truck and outside are in excellent condition. The truck has 70,000 miles on it and is running great. I have had the usual Dakota problems (brake rotors, ball joints, and heater controls). The 12 grand it would cost me to turn the truck around will go a long way in making some modifications. I too, don't care for the looks of the new one.
I live in Connecticut--$2.139 a gallon x about 20 gallons (regular)--your there. Thanks for all of your suggestions. Best Wishes for the Holidays, Fishful Thinking (boat's name)

Message: if it cost $26 to fill up your truck and it's 1.95, you must either fill it up after you drive a 1/4 tank or have less than a 15 gallon tank... sorry i was wrong about your owning a 15 gallon.
I have one in my truck and it cost me $22 to fill it up this morning at $1.94. My durango on the other hand takes several bills with it's 25 gallon tank.
