Subject: Evaporator core replacement IP: Logged
Message: The evaporator core in my 95 CC 4x4 3.9L is shot according to an shop. I'm wanting to do this myself to save on the $700 quote they gave me. Anyone done this before? Any catches I need to be aware of? Any other parts I should consider replacing while I'm in there? hoses?
Truck has new tstat, new heater core, new upper and lower hoses - all within the last 2 months. Late last year I replaced the compressor and acumulator. There's not much left to replace as far as the heating / cooling goes.
Any suggestions and helpful tips appreciated

Message: I replaced the one on my 2000 CC Dak and I will never tackle a job like that again. It required removing the complete dashboard. If you choose to DIY but do not have help standing there waiting on your every need then don't even start. The dash is bulkier than heavy but you really need the extra hands. Have a vacuum and maybe some compressed air ready as this would be a great opportunity to clean back there also. Eyeball all your rubber hosing on your air unit back there while there. I did not and have a leaky rubber hose back there now and cannot run my AC on the "max" setting now.
GOOD LUCK
