Message: Let us not forget that the declining sales of the badly outdated GENIII caused the need for a change in design and overall engineering of the truck.
I am sure many who were not happy with the looks and outdated engineering of the Gen III will go for this badly needed update.
Congrats DMC. The Gen IV is and will be a hit and help gain back lost market share.

Message: yeah, you 'badly' need to get the facts straight. truck/car designs change after a few years all the time. look at the tundra, good sales, looks good(too me), but hey, it's already getting redesigned! and the gen3 looks freakin' awesome, and no I dont have one

Message: DC can sell alot more of the dakotas if they made 1 change.. put a 6' bed on the QC. I love my EC dakota but will probably never buy another dakota again. Why? I am at the point where i want/need a QC but can't live with that short little bed. My only option is to upgrade to a full size.
If they can make a full size QC with 6' bed, why not make a midsize QC with one? Would be a perfect dakota candidate for the hemi!!

Message: I think the reason they're not selling is the price of gas. I certainly wouldn't buy another if my 2000 needed replacement.

Message: I haven't seen many 05's on the road, but I have seen a lot of the new f150s and i would guess about 95% are quad cabs. I think it's not a price of gas issue but passenger space and bed space (see my previous post in this thread). Around here, I see alot of the older dakotas.

Message: I'll most likely get an 05-up Dak when it's time for a new one. By then the shock of the new styling will have worn off and they will be common place like the gen III's are now.
I recall when the newly restyled Ram came out in '93 or was it '94? It too was a love it or hate it style. That was what our gen III's were based on.
I think the 05's with body colored bumpers and grill look a lot better than with the chrome. My biggest gripe is with the interior styling, especially the dash. Hopefully DC will change it in the upcoming years.
