Subject: UPDATES on POWERSLOTS?
IP: Logged

Message:
So, I just went to the Dodge dealer where a buddy works, and got my upper ball joints replaced for my 2000 QC 4x4, for the recall. He told me I was gonna need new pads SOON..
I have been looking into the Powerslots and Hawk pads for a few years now, but most of the posts on here are over 2 years old. Are there any new ideas for rotor/pad combo's to combat dust, noise, lack of stopping power? And where do you all recommend buying these sweet little tarts from. My Buddy said he'd put them on, I just have to buy'em.. Thanks y'all

I heard ceramic brake pads has vertualy no dust and gives you good stoping power. I wouldnt listen to the dealership about your pads about to be bad. when I had my 95 ranger. about 3 years later the place I took it to be inspected. every year he would tell me my pads will need to be replaced next year. that went on for 5 years. I took it to midas mufflers to have the pads replaced and they told me I had over half the pad left. when I told them they was the original brake pads. they guy told me I was lying. no way a set of pads could last that long. that was 9 years and the original brake pads. the truck would stop on a dime so there wasnt nothing wrong with the braking system. why they lasted this long I cant say and will prob never find out. so I would look at your pads yourself before taking the advice of a stealership lol

Thanks Jecht.. the only difference is that its my buddy. He's not trying to screw me or anything, he's just being straight up with me.
I also had a Ranger. 125,000 miles on original pads, rotors, everything, when I sold her. Never even turned the rotors. Never even flushed the brake fluid. I miss that little thing.
The Dak definitely has inferior products, not to mention the Dak is a lot heavier...
But thanks dude....

sorry didnt see he was your friend. my bad lol. yeah I had 75,000 on my ranger and never had the rotors turned nothing. not even a front end alinement. and I could let the wheel go and it would stay straight and never drift. guess ford got somoething right with the rangers. I miss my ranger also but have to move on and needed a QC to carry my lil rug rat around. I love how the back doors open to a perfect 90 degrees.

let me know what pads you get and how they do. so I can keep in mind when I need to replace my 4 wheel disk brakes.

I have powerslots with Hawk performance pads. Stops on a thin dime, very little dust, and no noise. 25000 miles with no issues. Highly recommended.

What about SSBC stuff? Any good word on them. www.4wheelparts.com has rotors w/pads (front only) for $169, and they look comparable to Powerslot.

I compared Jegs and buybrakes, all the way to check out, and Jeg's is still a little cheaper. They have free ground shipping, same as buybrakes. Thanks for the idea TRY.
ZenDak, I don't know anything about the SSBC stuff... sorry.

That's cool,,just noticed that nice price. Also saw Brembo stuff. Anyone used them before? Seem nice,,bout $192 from www.truckperformance.com,,,,BUT,

www.4wheelparts.com has that sweet guarantee that they will be ANY price on the web. So if you find a deal,,,take it to them, and make them beat it.
