I guess all those people are wrong and your right or your old lady can't drive a standard.
I think it's the latter.
Record sales at Acura. Record sales all round for Honda US in 2004. And that's without all the incentives that GM, Ford and DC had.
How did Dodge do?

Message: Come on guys. Honda makes a great reliable car. I agree they are overpriced but they also hold there value. A four door Civic is worth more than a big american car fully loaded (Crown Vic for example) of the same year. But once again they make a good car...they should stick to that and not try to make a pickup, which I agree is hideous.

if those are trucks then my DAKOTA is a sub compact car. I guess you dont know what a truck is do you. I call those SUV. a truck has a bed to haul things in. hence it being called a truck. about all you could haul in those are is a set of golf clubs. I see you must be about 10 . does your mommy know your on the computer. I love childish smart ass remarks. it shows how immature you rally are.
also on the honda site they call the crv and pilot an SUV. if it was a truck they would say truck after it and not SUV. sorry to say SUV and trucks are 2 different vehicles.
so lets see you haul a load of gravel in a crv truck. man honda will try anything to say they have the best sales in the light truck division. maybe honda dont know what a truck is. maybe they need to call up toyo or nissan for pics of what a truck looks like. I agree with graphite DAK lay the crack pipe down and step away from it.
also honda can thank chevy for the avalanche body for their first truck.
I am sorry those are not trucks. not by a long shot. so just go away and play with your hot wheels in a busy street. I am through palying with you. so jmp back on the honda ricers board. then tell them how you owned all of us DAK owners.

The dak was built to save a penny to increase profits.
The honda was built to last and they just raised the price and people paid it.
They each servre their purpose, I just fix the dakota more often. Luckily I can fix my dak versus the people that have to pay the dealer prices.

Message: Frist off, that thing is horrible. why put it in a compartment that you can't put stuff on top of, and then have to lift it out of the damn thing, instead of turn a crank and roll it to your bad tire? if they have the compartment, which is a neat idea, DON'T PUT THE SPARE IN IT. that's just retarded.
second, hondas are decent cars. but all the hondas i've ridden wheren't a fun ride, and the seats weren't comfortable at all. i'd rather fix my dak every weekend and enjoy riding in it, than regret ever buying a honda cuz the seats are so horrible.

Message: There was a good letter written to C/D about the differneces between japanese automobiles and american ones. The gist of the point, japan doesn't have much of a military budget and can't because of accords signed after WWII. The US however, uses it's top talent for war efforts (while not wanting to get into the politics of being right or wrong on this) and therefore it's top talents go towards that.
So does the japanese have "better built" vehicles, maybe. But i'll still take my dakota designed buy the "bottom of the class" engineers that DC have over some top-tier engineers that honda or toyota can offer up! I can't see enough difference to give up my beloved dakota.

Message: It DOESN'T have more power.
It makes it's advertised BHP at probably 5500 RPM's or even HIGHER!
That wont pull a trailer 80MPH up steep grades like a Dakota's 230HP V8 will! If you ran that engine 5500 RPM's alot to maintain any speed on some hills it will surely die very early.
I can't WAIT to find some Honda's pulling trailers to see how sh*ty they really are.
And NONE of those Honda SUV's are anyting like a "Light Truck" F**K that! THIS is their first truck, plain and simple. And they went half a$$ed and stuck a high revving V-Tec V6 in it. We'll see how well that goes.

Message: Man, I'm thinking about owning an 05 Dak and owe an 03 Civic Si now. Build quality on the Si it great. As for y'all's knowledge about Honda engines... well, that leaves alot to be desired. The new truck from Honda will have the K24a2 engine. Same engine in the TSX. 2.4l V6 that is not like the old engines. It has a great tq curve from low RPMs. No need to "Rev it high" to see them. All in all it's going to be a great truck. And come on, you can't compare a V6 to a V8. If you want, I can compare a 4cy w/ 230hp and 250tq. Go check out the SRT-4.

Message: eh, I guess they have their good and bad points. It doesn't seem much like anything you could put to but so much use. I'm not digging the spare tire deal and the trunk combination that shares its compartment. On the other hand I guess you could use it whenever your not carrying anything but it really seems like storage for stuff I personally would keep in there permanently, thus really being useless from my end, but, to each his own. Its like that show that claims that "everybody loves Raymond", its quite an exaggerated claim, lol.
The motor sounds like all the other motors that claim high horsepower. We'll have to see how much you can feel the loads, I'm of the mind that V-TEC is a bit over rated. It also gets relatively low fuel economy for the engine size, but then again Dodge doesn't have a history of mind blowing gas mileage either.
Its looks, kinda goofy. Maybe the faces of trucks are gonna change, noted by a lot of these new designs for a lot of trucks. But like a lot of people, I've heard way more people say they like older trucks than the newer ones. Maybe I'm conservative about my truck preference, but I don't like them being all, sleek in that "honda" sort of way. Its just... wierd lookin.
At least mix a lot was right, the soccer mom "won't have a motor in the back of her Honda", she'll have a place to stuff shin guards by the spare tire. =)

Message: Actually the V-Tec IS a good thing compared to NOT having variable valve timing.
I mean. A small engine needs to really breath at th higher RPM's to get descent power. If you just stuck in an agressive cam going for higher RPM's in mind the bottom end would be killed. same thing happens to V8's when you go agressive, hence why you need high stall converters (for auto's).
variable valve timing is cool because it maintains some of the GRUNT and switches lobes at higher RPM's.
Honda didn't invent it though. It was used for a while before by super cars and there were even fully electronic inventions of it made for small block V8's going as far back as the 80's but nothing happened and electronic controls were a lot more bulky back then.
I once saw a video more than 10 years ago with a modded set of 350 Chevy heads. they were not even driven by a cam shaft! It was high power servos! imagine selecting a program for a mellow idle or for a really lopey idle!!!
Anyway. V-tec or not, while using it the 2.4 V6 retains more torgue than a V6 with just a agressive cam would it still wont do much for "real truck" duties.
I don't know why they even bothered.
I'll be surprised if it's even got a "real frame" under it.
I'm tired of people calling them unibody CRV's and similar a "light truck"!!!
