Message: i love how toyota owners think that the little toyota badge makes the truck last forever. Tell that to my friend who bought a 2000 taco and had the timing belt break with under 5 k on the odo. Then after numerous other problems he sold it and took a big hit before it was even a year old. now he drives a chevy and hasnt had any problems. i also bought a toyota as my first car foolishly believing all the hype that you pay more upfront and get a better car, HA! that POS feel apart! everything was toyota maintained and it literally cost more in 1 year then i paid for it new! i will stick with my dodge. Cost much less to buy, and parts are cheaper when it does need repairs. also my dodge has a longer powertrain warranty than your toyoas has. overall the dodge is a much better value. go play with your pint sized yota fag

Dodgees need longer warranties because they break alot. That thud you felt was the ball joint snapping or maybe the rotors warping.bwahahahahahaha

Message: Whats really goofy is WHY on earth would you slap a huge warranty on a vehicle that will break down? Dodge would pay that out of pocket, yeah a real smart business move. Dodge has LONGER warranties because their trucks can go LONGER without breaking down. Foreign vehicles cost more because people belive they should. We own domestic and foreign, and every company has their goods and bads, but I have never seen a bad dodge truck. So I guess, "redneck 4 lyfe" me up or whatever, "aheeyuk", lol. If you want a truck, get an American. Little foreign trucks are for carrying coffee tables, or perhaps your groceries.

Message: Toyotas are for all the C0oL dUdes that are into the hip-hop, ricer boy theme cars. You know the type – The gangsta’ kids with the giant aluminum wings on their moms Corolla. They like to show off their automotive mechanical aptitude by going shopping on Ebay for electric turbo kits (bilge pumps) and strobe lights for that cool ride of theirs. A car like Dat wit some baggies and da underwear showing would be da bomb ya know…
Yes I’m quite proud not to be associated with that crowd by driving a Dodge thank you.
I’ll admit it…Many years ago I owned a Toyota when I was young and stupid (Celica GT). I didn’t think it was all that great especially since it rusted out like crazy for one thing amongst other problems. Later, I bought a brand new ’86 Honda CRX. Hondas had rave reviews by motor trend back then BTW and much like today everyone was telling me how great Hondas were and how they lasted forever without problems. Yeah right, that was all I ended up having was problems with it…even left me stranded once. I got rid of that little sucker at 13k miles after the 12k warranty ran out.
Am I saying all imports are bad? No, Like I stated before, all types of vehicles can and will have problems, I don’t care what it is. A company can put all the best engineering into a vehicle and guess what? - $hit still happens. No matter how hard we try, sometimes space shuttles explode, ships sink and airliners crash…that’s reality and Toyota’s are no different. Even though some idiots like to give them a mythological status. I haven’t heard one of these Toyota fools here yet tell us how it is that Toyotas have more TSB’s (that stands for Technical Service Bulletin for you ricer boys) than the Dodge Dakota does?…hmmm? (see my earlier post for links)
As for Toyota value, I watched the Barrett-Jackson car auction a couple of weeks ago on TV and you know I didn’t see any old Toyota collector cars going up for auction…wonder why? I did see a lot of old Dodges and Plymouths going for really big bucks though. Wonder if we’ll ever see a million-dollar Toyota like this old Mopar? -

I don’t understand why anyone would hang out here if they don’t like Dakotas anyway. They must have too much time on their hands. I guess I’ve got better things to do than to go hang out at the Toyota and Honda boards and rag on them about the junk ricers I’ve owned in the past that they seem to revere…oh well, to each his own I guess.
Question of the day…
Hey! that thing got the TuRD package in it? (Toyota TRD).

Message: I will say the TRD package does make the truck handle good. but the interior is just cheap looking. a prob all japaneese cars. also I agree they are overpriced. but hey all cars and trucks are even dodge lol. I chosed my DAK because one it had a V8 nad 2 my sister had a 99 and had a tire rod snap on her going down I-64 doing 70. when it did a 180 and hit the guard rail. her and her husband walked away without a scratch. now thats tough. do you think a TOY (and thats what they are) would of faired as good? I think not. the truck was repaired and worked fine. so those are the reasons I got a DAK.

Message: MythBuster, that summed it up.
That auction you spoke of was also mentioned to me today as we drove by some shop on scottsdale road where they have some of them cars from the auction. It had a bunch of classic dodge and plymouths out front. Some looked like Police cars or something.
The guy with me said some of them cars sold for lots of $$$ and like you said, You wont find any Corolla's or Taco's being worth THAT kind of money. EVER!!! Hell. Taco's don't last over 10 yrs unless it's been kept parked where it can't rust or be smashed into scrap metal by some real truck on the road :-)
Here in Phoenix I don't see any 1980's Toyota's unless it's drivin by some Chollo who built it out of 10 different SALVAGABLE pieces form the junk yard!!! By then it's also equiped with a spoiler, deep dish rims, and spinning hub caps!
And like it's been said, you don't see Toyota's being used to pull horse trailers and the likes and getting over 200K miles like a 318 does! Them Toyota's are bought to be nothing more than little kids "Toys".

Some of you dumb fukkwits need to learn to speak English.
As far as import versus domestic goes both trucks are built here by foreign based companies, Toyota based in Japan and Dodge in based Germany (in case you forgot you drive an import truck too). The 05 Tacoma interior is leaps and bounds ahead of the cheap plasticy shlt in the 05 Crapkota. Lets compare apples to apples. Toyotas just don't come up for resale. Tacoma owners are happy with there vehicles.
Personally I think MythBuster has his head up his ass and just doesn't want to admit that his German truck is far inferior to my American built American designed Japanese truck. Ah well, heil hitler to all you dudge fags.

It must also make you angry that the vast majority of the owners here are very happy and wouldnt trade the Dakota for any taco. myth Buster posted facts, you taco lovers post straight BS. Im glad you feel that your tacoma was worth 5-7k more than the dakota. I will take the dakota that is larger, can tow more, is more powerful and doesnt look like a catfish anyday over the overpriced, over rated tacoma.

Message: Just an observation.....I live in southern Ontario ,where salt and sand are on our roads from Nov. to March every year.
The toll on our vehicles is painful.
We as a society generally see our vehicles rust away long before the engines die.
That said I see vintage 80's ,gen I, Dakotas on the road on a weekly basis.
More than I see full size Chevy's or Ford's of the same vintage.
AND I haven't seen a Toyota truck older than 12 years on our roads in the past few years, aside from 2 local guys driving the original "jelly-bean" Sienna's,and they don't count as trucks in my mind.

Message: Okay I can vouch that japanese engineered vehicles rust to hell. Don't know why, but they do. But quite a few of these companies that used to be foreign have american corporations now. As I recall Dodge has been quite american for quite a while. Kind of like people that immigrated here legally, and have had generations of families here, unlike the stow away toyotas, lol. How could you not like dodge? Why are people predjuudice against brands anyway? I can see that the Dakota is a much more useful truck than the tocoma for real work, hands down, which is why I take its side.
