Subject: Driveshaft vibration IP: Logged
Message: My 99 5.2 5 speed dak has 103K on it, I recently had to have my rear end rebuilt so I decided it might be time for the u-joints to be serviced.
I had a neighbor press both out and I put the new ones in, now I have a huge vibration at 65MPH.
Do you have to line the driveshaft up with the front yoke the way it came out???.
I did not mark the way it was, but I assumed both were balanced independant of each other.
Does the rear have to in the way it came out?

You didn't say if you took yoks off but I would guess you did remove 1 yoke with out marking it. I would suggest you either remove shaft and rotate it 180 degrees and see if it gets better or to test balance try attaching hose clamps to shaft with screws 180 degrees apart and see if it gets any better you may need to have shaft rebalanced.

REMOVAL
(1) Place the transmission into the Neutral position.
(2) Raise and support vehicle on safety stands.
(3) Mark a line across the axle companion flange
and propeller shaft flange yoke (Fig. 11) for installation reference.
(4) Mark an outline of the center bearing on the
support bracket for installation reference, if
equipped.
(5) Mark an outline of the heat shield on the center
bearing for installation reference, if equipped.
(6) Remove center bearing and heat shield bolts, if
equipped.
(7) Remove companion flange bolts.
(8) Slide slip yoke off of the transmission, or transfer case, output shaft and remove the propeller shaft (Fig. 12).
INSTALLATION
(1) Slide the slip yoke onto the transmission, or
transfer case, output shaft.
(2) Align and install the center bearing and heat
shield to the support bracket, if necessary. Install the
bolts and tighten to 68 N·m (50 ft. lbs.).
(3) Align companion flange reference mark with
flange yoke mark.
(4) Install companion flange bolts and tighten to
108 N·m (80 ft. lbs.).
(5) Lower the vehicle.

Message: had same problem check drive shaft for any dints this can make your vibrasion that was my problem

Message: The driveshaft has to go back on the way it came off. Check and make sure the wieght(s) to balance the shaft were not knocked off.
