Subject: 2003 brake problems?
IP: Logged

Message:
Hello all-

I have a 2001 CC 4x4 that's had many brake warping problems. I'm considering buying a 2003 or 2004 model, since I've heard DC has "upgraded" the brakes. Has anyone out there with an 03 or 04 had warping problems, front or rear? Would this be a good trade up or am I wasting money on more problems?

Thanks in advance!

The brakes on the 03s and 04s are a huge improvement over the previous ones. I know because I had an 02 CC and then traded for an 03 QC last year. I haven't had or heard of any brake issues with the 03s and 04s. Not to say there hasn't been any, you can warp the rotors on anything if you try hard enough but there's no more of the common warping.

I have an 03cc 4x4 W/4 wheel disc brakes. I have never had any problems. I have 28000mi and the brakes are still in very good shape I check them evry 3000mi. when I change my oil. I also tow an 18ft maxum boat all summer and fully loaded it weighs about 3800lbs. It had no brakes all summer last year so the truck was doing all the work. No warped rotors and agian original brakes and still the brakes are not yet in need of replacement there is well over 50% left on the pads. I have had to really ride the brakes somtimes and have never had problems. So, definetly they finaly fixed the prob. No more warping.

I have an 04 QC that rotors warped with less than 14k.(no abuse)
D/C customer service said i'm only one with the problem and would not cover as waranty
Dealer replaced both rotors after lots of bitching for $50, Say it's still common.

mikec041, you're VERY luckey you got them replaced
for 50 bux.. I had 12k on my 02 and stealership
said no warranty. DC only puts 10k on their junk
brakes. Anyway, I replaced the rotors and pads
myself with much better than factory.

DC's brake pad, shoe, rotor and drum warranty is 12 mos or 12000 miles from original in-service date. It is the same with most car makers.

I have an 03 QC 4x4 and at 21,000kms The Front Rotors were pulsing like mad. Dealer said they are a wearable Item and are only covered under warranty for 20,000kms. Imagine that!
I baby my truck.. theses rotors have not been abused!

Radioman i'm not complaining i figured i'm lucky. WHEN they go again i'll go slotted like i had to do on wife's grand cherokee. GC rotors warped every 8k. (D/C said i was only person with this problem). Jeep dealer picked up replacements for 3 sets of rotors and 1 set of pads then i was on my own.

I just figured for $50 and an hour at Dodge dealer why not.
Just thinking of taking out the jackstands is worth more than $50.
