Subject: Popping noise in steering column IP: Logged
Message: I've been having a popping noise in my steering column on my 98 4x4. The ball joints have already been replaced on both sides. Anybody have similar problem or know what it could be?

Message: I read a fix for that some where. It basically suggested that the column is misaligned. If I remeber correctly it said to loosen all of the column bolts and try to postion the column straight, then retorque the bolts. I had a popping noise in my column and it turned out to be the steering shaft.

Message: I also had a popping noise in my steering column, would disappear when I sprayed wd40 on the U joints down near the rack. Eventually replaced the joint to make things quiet....
