Subject: selling/trading my Quad question. IP: Logged
Message: I'm thinking about trading or selling my '02 Quad
outright. I'm looking for some input from people who
have done the same.
Did you have luck selling outright?
Did you get a decent trade value if trading in?
Are the Kelly Blue Book values accurate?
Did you sell/trade your truck with mods or return it to
stock?
Thanks,
Lemmers

Message: as my banker told me" KBB prices are inflated to allow someone with not so good credit to borrow more on the vehicle." if you trade, i don't think you'll recoup the money for those mods you have. IMO, i'd try selling it outright.

Message: You will be lucky if the stick shift doesn't kill your resale, especially on a trade. I've been screwed by that a few times. If you're going to trade it, make sure its clean as a whistle and don't expect to get more because of mods, accessories etc.

Message: I am looking for the same stock truck right now, but with a little more mileage on the clock so it's cheaper. To evaluate what the truck's worth go to kbb.com, nada.com and edmunds.com. They will have different pricing and be of by $1000 or more. You'll probably be thinking, "so what't the truck realy worth", as I have been with the trucks I have been looking at purchasing. I think Edmunds is closest.
dadio is right about the mods, they won't add value to your truck from a dealers stand point. Heck they might even make it worth less depending on what was modded. You have to think like a dealer, what's easier to sell, a stock truck that 80% of truck buyers would want or a modded truck that 20% of the buyers would want. Your best bet is to sell it yourself and hope to find the person who is looking for a dak with all your mods, you might cash out on them if you find the right person.
I am going through the same stuff with an insurance company right now. They don't care what was added to the truck, just what came stock. If I want anything out of the mods, stereo, slotted rotors, etc, I have to pull them off the truck because they aren't giving me squat for them.

Message: FWIW my local Dodge dealer (where I ordered
my quad) looks like they'll give me $13,500
trade on a leftover '04 Hemi Ram.
The local Toyota dealer will give $12,000 trade
on an '05 Tundra (and won't budge off MSRP).
KBB trade value on my truck (stock) is 13,450
so both don't seem too bad really.
If I trade it, I'll definately put it back to stock. It'll
only take a day of work in the garage.
I'm actually leaning towards keeping it as I've
finally got all the bugs worked out of it. I
honestly think my Dakota rides and drives
much smoother on the highway than the Ram
or Tundra anyway.
DSW, there's an 02 Dakota Sport Quad on
AutoTrader here in Wisconsin for $13, 900.
4.7 5spd, Silver with only 2,482 miles
(although I find that pretty hard to believe) It's
at St. Naziana Van Horn Chrysler,
1-866-245-3247, Stock No. 2812, Contact
Kelly Grebe. I think you're down south
somewhere, but it may be worth a call and
plane ride.

Message: $13,900 for an 02 QC with 2,482 miles is great. I am with you on the mileage as it seems kind of questionable, maybe 24,820 or 32,842 I think it's a typo. Heck I wouldn't mind coming to WI to pickup the truck, see my folks while I am up there, it's the 30 hour drive back to vegas that's a killer ;)
I am looking at a 03 4.7 QC with 30K for $14,700 tomorrow, let's hope it's in good condition.
