Message: I keep reading these posts of people "getting scratch" up to 4th gear in their V6 (!?!?!) and V8 Daks. Am I missing something here? I have a V8 RC 2wd 5sp and while I can burn 'em up with the best of them, I shudder to think of what one would have to do to get any squeek in 3rd or 4th. Are you guys on wet pavement or in the snow? Come on!! What gives?

Message: "Getting scratch" at gear shifts is caused by a loss of traction during a full throttle gear change. It's a bad thing, and a sign of poor driving skills. If you're on the track, it will cost you time and trap speed. It's also pretty tough on the drive line.

Message: That makes much more sens .boB. I can understand how people can do that if it's a full thottle powershift. I could see that being very bad for the entire drivetrain. Guess I drive like a grandpa.
Oh well.
